Updated 9/7/17                                                                                         The Rondout Valley Education Foundation (RVEF) working in the school community:

Programs:

Staff Tribute Program – Recognizes teachers and support staff. Parents and community members wishing to show their appreciation can contribute to the Classroom Grant Program with a donation in the name of a teacher or support staff person. An Award Certificate is presented to the teacher with the name and personal message from the donor. All donations are directed to the Classroom Grant Program.

Classroom Grant Program – funded through Staff Tribute Program donations, voluntary payroll deduction donations from  RVCSD employees, and other designated donations; benefits individual classroom initiatives supporting innovative educational programs and supplies that fall outside of the current school budget.

Commemorative Brick Walk – funded through the purchase of engraved bricks; benefits RVEF operating budget. Currently 51 bricks have been purchased and engraved on site at the base of the flag pole on the HS Campus. Seven more orders await engraving as soon as the engraving minimum of 20 bricks is reached.

Grant Funds:

Foundation Grant Fund – funded by donations; funds are available to education providers and students to apply for grants that will enhance learning opportunities for students through programs, activities and/or facility needs beyond the scope of RVCSD’s annual budget. Includes grants specific to Pre-K Literacy and STEM initiatives.

Classroom Grant Fund – funded through donations, payroll deduction pledges from RVCSD employees, and the Staff Tribute Program; benefits the Classroom Grant Program

Foundation General Fund – funded through unrestricted donations, and fundraisers; benefits RVEF operating budget and partnership funds under the direction of the Board of Directors

School Group Partnership Funds:

Sandra Taub Golden Determination Fund – funded through designated donations; purpose is to recognize students who have demonstrated determination to succeed. A Determination Award Certificate and a $100.00 gift certificate is presented to 8th grade students upon commencement that have met award criteria.

Science Research Program Fund – funded through donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students in the Independent Science Research Program

RVHS Musical Theater Fund – funded through donations; benefits the RVHS Musical Theater initiative

Fire Boat John J. Harvey Project Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits the Museum project and student field trip Newcomers Uplifted Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students involved in program events

Erica R. Bell Memorial Scholarship Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; offers scholarships to graduating seniors as chosen by the Fund organizers

RVCSD Summer Arts Camp Fund – funded through designated donations and fees paid by those attending the summer camp; benefits student learning through classroom instruction during summer camp program

MES Arts Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students involved in Arts workshops

HS Music Booster Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students involved in the music program

RVHS-rp Science Field Trip Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students involved in program events

RVHS Sports Marketing Field Trip Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those involved in the program; benefits students involved in program events

Foreign Language Week Fund – funded through designated donations and fundraising by those         involved in the program; benefits programming offered during Foreign Language Week 

Farm to School Fund – funded through designated donations; purpose is to nourish our children, support our farmers, and strengthen our community. 100% of designated donations will be used to purchase food from Rondout Valley Growers for the RVCSD Food Service Program

Sue Matson Distinguished Youth Award – funded through designated donations; purpose is to fund an annual distinguished youth award given by the Rochester Youth Commission.

Mock Trial Team Award Fund – Funded by the Law Firm of Rusk, Wadlin, Heppner, & Martuscello, LLP; purpose is to recognize and support a graduating senior who has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the Mock Trial Team.

Field Hockey Booster Club – funded through designated donations and fundraising for those   involved in the program to benefit the program and the students involved.

French Class Trip Fund – this fund supports an educational trip for RV French students giving them the opportunity to be surrounded by the French language. Donations to this fund can be made anytime during the year.

RVHS Parent Association Fund – this fund was established to support and promote programs and activities that enhance critical thinking and problem solving, encourage student directed learning and foster collaborative teamwork so that our graduates are prepared with skills and inspired to be stewards and empathetic leaders in this community and beyond.

HS Advanced Graphics Fund – this fund benefits the HS Advanced Graphics Program and the students involved. A collaboration between students and local businesses to design and print 3D logos through the 3D Printed Logo Filament Fundraiser contributes to his fund along with other designate donations accepted at any time.

Foundation General Fund – funded through unrestricted donations, and fundraisers; benefits RVEF operating budget and other funds at the discretion of the Board of Directors

Foundation Grant - $100 Pre-K Literacy Grant to Friends of Little Ones for the Little Ones Library Nature Wagon Presentation.
Classroom Grant - $1500 for classroom library books, $500 to each of three 1st grade classrooms
Foundation Grant - $1000 to supplement funds needed for the 7th grade class to attend the premier of Wonder, the film adaptation of the novel they read as part of their curriculum.

Foundation Grant - $500 to the Newcomers Uplifted Program to offset costs of their multi-disciplinary field trip to Central Park Zoo and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Foundation Grant - $500 to the Kerhonkson Elementary third grade class to offset cost of admission for their Bronx Zoo field trip.
Foundation Grant - $500 to the Fireboat John J Harvey Project to offset the cost of their field trip to the John J Harvey Fireboat and 911 Memorial Museum.

2003 At the Community/School Partnership Workshops held in the Fall, support for creating a Foundation resulted in the formation of a Committee tasked to develop a plan to create the Rondout Valley Education Foundation (RVEF).

1998 One of the action plans that came about during development of the District’s Strategic Plan resulted in research followed by a presentation to the Board of Education concerning the advantages that a school related foundation could bring to the district.

1996 RVCSD Board of Education first researched the idea of forming Education Foundation
