Dear Rondout Valley School Community:

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) recently released guidance on Test to Stay (TTS) for schools throughout the state. Ulster County Department of Health has followed this guidance and by adopting TTS for Ulster County school districts, it allows any district in Ulster County to opt-in and implement Test to Stay. The Rondout Valley Central School District will be implementing the Test to Stay Program effective Tuesday, January 11, 2022 for new exposures in the school setting.

The Test to Stay Program (TTS) allows unvaccinated close contacts who test negative three (3) times over a seven (7) day period to remain in school for in-person instruction. Close contacts must still quarantine outside of the school day (TTS contacts may not participate in extra-curricular or community activities until after the 7-day TTS period has ended). Vaccinated close contacts are still exempt from quarantine and they do not need to participate in the TTS program. The TTS program is only for individuals who have been exposed to a positive case in the school setting. Anyone quarantined due to an exposure outside of school is not eligible for the Test to Stay Program.

If a student is identified as a close contact and you choose not to participate in the TTS Program, the student will be required to quarantine for ten (10) days, per the New York State Department of Health Guidance.

Please be reminded that the health and safety guidance is continually evolving and we will update our community as we receive new information from the Department of Health.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work hard to keep our students in school where they belong.
