letter from the superintendent

Dear Rondout Valley School Community:

Last evening at around 9:00 PM, the New York State Department of Health released additional new updated guidance for the return to school:

INTERIM NYSDOH GUIDANCE FOR CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION IN P-12 SCHOOLS DURING THE 2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

Commissioner’s Determination on COVID-19 Testing Pursuant to 10 NYCRR 2.62

Over the next few days, we will review the new updates, compare the new guidance with our current Return to School Plan and make any required changes. Once we have done this, we will share the updates with you.  In brief, much of the new guidance has already been incorporated into the district’s plan approved by the Board of Education on August 24th.

Some of the new guidance, as you can read in the links above, are around COVID testing and vaccinations. We are working with the Ulster County Department of Health and our Medical Director on the logistics around offering testing and this information will be shared with you once it is finalized.

Please know that we are making every effort to return our students and staff to school safely. Our goal is to do this in a manner that is minimally disruptive to students and families while maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

Thank you again for your continued patience and support as we work through these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Joseph Morgan, Superintendent
