School Reopening Family Survey

Dear Rondout Valley Families,

While schools across the country face significant uncertainty and a range of potential scenarios for the fall, one thing is for sure in Rondout Valley: Reopening our schools will take a community-wide effort.

While state guidance around reopening is not yet available, the district needs to be prepared for multiple scenarios for how school will take place in September.

Given the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be a fluid process, with the direction based on the latest available information and state and federal guidance. No decisions about how school will reopen in the fall have been made. At this time, there has been no change to the school calendar for 2020-21, which includes the teacher year beginning on September 1 and instruction will begin on September 8.

It is important to have the feedback of our families on the School Reopening Family Survey. The survey is comprehensive but the feedback we receive is critical to inform our reopening plan.

There is nothing we want more than to have our students, teachers, and staff members together at school. We know that we must look toward reopening in a way that mitigates risk and provides for best practices in health, safety and instruction and student support. We believe that this can be a moment where we strengthen our school community despite the challenges and uncertainty ahead. We are all focused on what is best for our students.

I thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey.

Very truly yours,

Joe Morgan, Superintendent
