In accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines, the Facilities Department performed lead water sampling on April 3, 2025. The sample results were received on April 25, 2025, and indicated lead levels in exceedance of 5 parts per billion, the maximum allowable tolerance for lead drinking water, in ten (10) locations throughout the district. The following locations were affected, and test results are provided in the table below:

Upon receipt of the results, an immediate remediation and action plan was established. All affected fixtures were taken out of service and alternative sources of water were provided. Each affected fixture was investigated to determine the age and materials used during manufacturing. Several fixtures were replaced, water filters were installed in select locations and a second round of samples were taken on May 2, 2025. Expedited lab testing was requested, and results were received on May 8, 2025. The second round of lab testing indicated that all fixtures which were previously tested above the maximum tolerance were now in compliance and below the 5 parts per billion limits. Two fixtures in the High School kitchen were not re-tested and will remain out of service until new plumbing can be installed. These fixtures being out of service do not affect the food service operations, as multiple alternative fixtures are available for use.
In accordance with New York State Department of Health requirements, the district provided notification to all parents, staff and guardians within 10 business days of receipt of lab results (April 25, 2025). This notification contained information that the initial testing resulted in exceedances of the allowable limits, and that the results of the second samples were found to be in compliance.
