FAQ: Grades 4-8 Configuration
Exploring a Grades 4-8 Middle School Configuration
The Intermediate School (Grades 4-6) and Junior High School (Grades 7-8) have shared a building for many years while operating as two separate schools, each with its own administrative structure. During this same period, enrollment has declined significantly and is projected to continue doing so.
In light of these factors, the District is exploring whether to unify Grades 4-8 into a single Rondout Valley Middle School, combining our current Intermediate School and Junior High School, both of which are located on our Kyserike Road campus. This concept does not involve closing a school or relocating students. If pursued, a new Middle School configuration would have students remain in the same classrooms and spaces, but the building would operate as one school with the unified leadership of one principal.
