Rondout Valley Names New Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

Natalie Harjes was announced as the new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Rondout Valley Central School District (RVCSD).

Harjes has been with the District since 2023 as the Director of Curriculum. She was officially appointed by the Rondout Valley Board of Education at their January 13 meeting.

“Mrs. Harjes will play a critical part in advancing our district’s strategic goals by supporting efforts to raise student achievement across all schools,” said Superintendent Paul Spadaro. He explained that in this role Harjes will work closely with building leaders and teachers to strengthen instructional practices and provide targeted, meaningful professional development aligned with RVCSD’s new curricula.

“I am excited to collaborate with our teachers to strengthen literacy and math instruction while expanding play-based and project-based learning,” says Harjes. “Together, we will ensure every student experiences engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with New York State’s Portrait of a Graduate.”

Harjes brings a strong instructional background along with a collaborative leadership style and a clear commitment to supporting educators and students alike. Her leadership will further enhance RVCSD’s collective work toward academic excellence and continuous improvement.
